This section details the robust engineering that makes AquaCredit a credible, innovative solution, bridging the physical world of water with the security of the blockchain.
The AquaCredit Box: Verified by IoT
The AquaCredit Box is the central component of our system—a rugged, autonomous IoT device designed for reliable data collection in any environment. It ensures that every token minted is backed by real, verified physical data.
Component | Function | Integrity Role |
Rugged Hardware | IP67 weatherproof housing, solar-charged battery (for off-grid power). | Ensures operation in remote/harsh urban infrastructure settings. |
Sensors | Flow meters (volume), TDS/pH sensors (water quality), soil moisture (for irrigation projects). | Counts liters until $1 \text{ m}^3$ accumulates and ensures water quality meets "clean" standards. |
Microcontroller | Executes local data validation and processing. | Processes raw data into verified metrics on the device itself. |
Secure Element Chip | Cryptographically signs the validated data packet. | Guarantees the data is tamper-proof and originates from a certified device. |
Communication Module | Cellular, LoRaWAN, or satellite. | Secure transmission of signed data to the cloud or directly to the oracle. |
(Figure 1 diagram), the site conveys the integrity and reliability built into the AquaCredit Box.
Smart Contract Flow: Automated & Tamper-Proof Minting
Our architecture ensures a seamless, tamper-proof link between physical water outcomes and digital token issuance, as depicted in the data and blockchain flow (Figure 5 diagram reference).
The Process Flowchart:
Sensor Data Collection: The AquaCredit Box collects data (volume, quality, time) and performs local validation on the device.
Secure Transmission: The cryptographically signed data is securely transmitted (with cached offline storage for resilience) to the cloud or directly to a blockchain oracle.
Oracle / API Feed: A trusted oracle or API feeds the signed, validated data to the AquaCredit smart contract on the blockchain.
Automatic Token Minting: The smart contract automatically mints 1 ACT token per verified cubic meter and records the transaction, project ID, and timestamp on the immutable blockchain ledger.
This chain is fully automated: when the device confirms the $1 \text{ m}^3$ threshold and quality, it triggers the contract. The system is also resilient, operating offline and syncing data later without double-counting, ensuring no credits are lost if connectivity fails.
